The 9 national winners of the 10,000 Startups Pour Changer Le Monde award, organized by La Tribune and coming from all over France, were revealed Monday at the Grand Rex in Paris. Discover Teebike, GenesInk, Spin-Ion Technologies, Nomad Education, Lucine, Water Horizon, Carbiolice, Bodyguard and Torskal.
Will the winners of 10,000 Startups Pour Changer Le Monde 2021 include future champions of French Tech such as former winners Doctolib and ManoMano – now unicorns – Dataiku, which has been acquired by Google, or members of the Next40 and French Tech 120 such as Evaneos, CorWave, Sendinblue, Exotec, Qonto and Devialet? The winners of season 9 of the prize organized by La Tribune were revealed this Monday, March 29, at the Grand Rex in Paris, in the presence of ministers Cédric O (Digital Transition), Olivia Grégoire (Social and Solidarity Economy) and Sébastien Lecornu (Overseas), as well as an audience of entrepreneurs, investors and leading figures in French Tech.

France’s largest startup competition
In nine seasons since 2013, the “10,000 Startups Pour Changer Le Monde” competition has heard pitches from nearly 1,800 nuggets and awarded prizes to over 300 startups. Since innovation is bubbling up everywhere, La Tribune is committed to identifying and highlighting the diversity of entrepreneurship made in France. Our jury of experts and journalists will conduct a tour of France’s innovation scene in eight cities (Lille, Strasbourg, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes and Paris) in January and February, in search of the entrepreneurs who are changing the world. In 2021, two new stages have been added in Overseas France, in Reunion Island and Guadeloupe.
At each stage of the hexagonal tour, six regional winners were awarded, one per category. The categories embody the greatest challenges of the 21st century: Industry of the Future; Environment & Energy; Health; Data & AI; Smart tech (innovations in use); and a final category, Start, for emerging projects in all areas. 48 regional winners have been designated. In Overseas France, La Tribune rewarded 4 startups, two in Reunion and two in Guadeloupe.
These 52 winners competed in the final on March 15 in Paris. Discover now the 9 national winners, one per category as well as a special Coup de Cœur prize, a special Impact prize, and a special Overseas prize. What do they have in common? A “real” innovation, meaningful and useful to society. The winners receive 50,000 euros of advertising space on La Tribune publications, the visibility and prestige of a competition at the heart of the national tech ecosystem, which benefits from the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and the support of key players in the French tech ecosystem.

Torskal, green chemistry for a better cure for cancer
This Reunionese biotech has multi-patented a breakthrough innovation in the treatment of cancer through green chemistry. A pioneer in green nanotechnology, Torskal designs disruptive nanoparticles for the treatment of surface cancer and deep cancer, derived from plants endemic to the Indian Ocean. A phase 1 clinical trial is planned for 2021 for this potentially revolutionary innovation, whose applications may also extend beyond the medical field, particularly for cosmetology.

Teebike, the startup that reinvents the (electric) wheel
This startup from Nice develops a motorized front wheel that turns bicycles into electric bikes in a few minutes. The wheel is connected via Bluetooth to the Teebike application, which then becomes the dashboard for choosing the level of electrical assistance generated by the wheel. Teebike’s mission is to extend the life of bikes by reconditioning them. The startup also claims a social approach -it reconditions bikes with a partner association- and a circular economy. Its wheel costs 795 euros, has an autonomy of 60 to 80 km and is eligible for some local subsidies, including that of the Paris City Hall.

GenesInk, replaces rare metals in electronics with nanoparticles
The result of decades of public research, GenesInk aims to revolutionize the electronics industry by enabling manufacturers to replace certain rare metals that are highly polluting and are harvested under undignified conditions with nanoparticle-based substitutes. With 12 patent families and a panel of more than 40 different conductive and semiconductor inks, the Marseille-based startup has already found a way to replace a rare metal used in the manufacture of smartphones, and is working with electronics giants in the United States, Japan and Taiwan.
